Field Directors in Demand at USSA

November 28, 2011
Ohio Valley Outdoors

COLUMBUS, OH - The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance Foundation (USSAF) promotes the outdoor sports through public education, legal defense and research. To accomplish these goals, we need help in the field. This is why the USSA developed the Sentry Program building a grassroots army from coast to coast-and why we are also looking for volunteers in locales across the country. If you are interested in protecting our outdoor heritage today and tomorrow, here are some ways you can help:

Assist with one of the award-winning USSAF Trailblazer Adventure youth programs in your area, and help teach kids and their families about the great outdoors and hunting, fishing, trapping and the shooting sports. These events happen throughout the year in nearly every state. www.ussportsmen.org/page.aspx?pid=261

Volunteer your time at a local sportsmen's show promoting the USSA, helping raise funds, recruiting other Sentry members, and building USSA awareness in that area. www.ussportsmen.org/document.doc?id=219

Recruit your sportsmen's conservation club to support the USSA or USSAF.

Become a Local Field Director (LFD). A LFD is a volunteer position where you are on the front lines promoting and developing programs in your locale and elsewhere. Unlike most volunteer positions, LFD expenses are reimbursed and are even paid a small stipend for some program work. LFDs promote USSA and USSAF, coordinate the local Trailblazer events, visit clubs, and attend sportsmen's shows and other events to recruit members and build USSA and USSAF awareness. An annual training conference is held each January in Columbus, Ohio for the USSA national LFD staff-and USSA / USSAF picks up the tab for the event and travel expenses. Space at this upcoming event is limited.
