OVO’s Claypool Receives Conservation Award

PERRYSBURG, OH - OVO Publisher/Editor Larry Claypool was awarded the Conservation Communicator of the Year by the League of Ohio Sportsmen during the organization's banquet on February 18 in Perrysburg, OH.

The League's 104th Annual Conservation Awards Banquet was held at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg, near Toledo. Claypool was one of eight awardees from around the state of Ohio recognized during the event. The award was presented by League of Ohio Sportsmen board member Larry Mitchell, Sr.

"As a writer for two publications, and a radio show, Claypool conveys his loyalty and dedication to promoting the wise use and enjoyment of Ohio's great outdoors through two venues in the Buckeye State," said Larry Mitchell, Jr., master of ceremonies.

The other awardees recognized during the banquet included: Tim White, Wildlife Conservationist of the Year; Perry Orndorff, Soil Conservationist of the Year; Louis Best, Conservation Educator of the Year; Rep. Jay Hottinger, Conservation Legislator of the Year; the Black Swamp Bird Observatory, Conservation Organization of the Year; Terry Yinger, Hunter Educator of the Year and Pat Agner, Distinguished Service Award winner.

The League of Ohio Sportsmen, founded in 1908, is a non-profit federation of the united hunting and fishing clubs of Ohio. It is dedicated to the restoration and conservation of wildlife in our fields, woods and water; to the abatement of stream pollution; to the rehabilitation and reforestation of unproductive lands; to further conservation education in Ohio's schools and to the public; and to defend the legal set-up of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources from political exploitation.
