3 Game Cameras Reviewed...Introduction

December 22, 2012
Bill Waugaman , Ohio Valley Outdoors

Evaluating game cameras is not an easy task. There are quite a few companies to choose from and each company typically has a variety of game cameras with different features and various capabilities. An Internet search will produce hundreds of results. You can find detailed diagnostic reviews from people who have elaborate testing equipment to individuals praising or criticizing specific game cameras.

The selection for this review was a simple 3-step process to choose three game cameras in the $200 to $300 retail price range. You get what you pay for with inexpensive game cameras under $100 and not too many hunters in our area will purchase the high priced ones over $400. First, I chose reputable, well know manufacturers. Second, I considered game cameras that are relatively similar and have some of latest features and capabilities. Third, I asked myself "Would I buy it for myself?" which takes into consideration the price point, value, availability and the answers to the first two questions.

The selection process narrowed the choices down to Bushnell's Trophy Cam HD, Cuddeback's AttackIR and the Primos TruthCam Ultra Blackout. Obviously, someone will ask, "Why didn't you choose this one or that one?" Other ones were considered, but did not make it through the process.
