Bahnsen’s Host 18th Annual Dove Shoot

September 12, 2017
By Larry Claypool - OVO Editor , Ohio Valley Outdoors

NEW MANCHESTER, WV - The 18th Annual Dove Shoot, hosted by Peggy and Doc Bahnsen of New Manchester, WV, kicked off the 2017 hunting season in West Virginia on September 4. It was another great day for wing shooters to open the new season. The shoot took place at Miller Farm, along Gas Valley Road, near New Manchester.

Only in few hunters in this group of 40 shooters were able to bag a limit of 15 birds. For the past several years most hunters have limited out in a 3-4-hour span. This year it appeared that several less birds were flying into Doc Bahnsen's finely manicured sunflower and corn fields.

Special guest shooters at the event were West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner (R) and West Virginia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt (R).
